A dozen early risers made the 8 a.m. start on Sunday for our bird walk. Over the next couple of hours, led by Glen Moore, we walked several of the village footpaths looking and listening for wildlife, mainly birds. Glen was able to identify and point out to us 45 different species of birds, from the commonplace robins, sparrows and crows to the less frequently seen grey wagtail, heron and tree creeper. This is the fourth annual bird walk and a record number of species. Our picture shows some of the walkers paused in a field off Bures Road.
After the walk, we enjoyed brunch prepared by Sarah in the Hall, and were joined by about 10 others who could not do the walk. Thanks to Sarah for her hard work and to Glen for leading us.
