Should we open the village envelope?

At the Parish Council meeting on Jnuary 19th no decisions were made on opening th village envelope. Too few responses had been received from the village to decide a policy.

The council therefore decided to leaflet the village asking for an urgent response. It was hoped that a result could be discussed at an interim planning meeting, scheduled for February 16th, with a decision being referred to the main council meeting in March

Yes on balance I think we should consider this. The country desperately needs more houses and nowhere can be immune. Much better to willingly look at what would be reasonable and proportionate for this village and its community now, rather than perhaps having development forced upon us in the future. I agree that what we need is affordable housing allowing young couples and families to make their homes here – in this way not only does White Colne do its bit for the housing crisis, we also take the opportunity to bring new talents, ideas and energy to the community.

Thank you Clare for your comments. All of these comments have been very useful and greatly helped our discussions during our PC meeting last Tuesday. In an attempt to receive a majority viewpoint, we shall be leafleting the whole village very soon. Please look out for this and encourage your friends and neighbours to respond too.
